Claudia
Jimenez, Policy Analyst

Claudia manages constituent requests in the Fruitvale Neighborhoods of
District Five. She also handles Public Safety matters for the Council
President. Prior to joining the Council office, Claudia worked for a period
of two and a half years as a policy analyst for Councilmember Quan. Prior
to working in local government, Claudia worked with parents and students
at the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse in Santa Barbara, her home
town. She also worked with the Richmond Police Department in their family
services division as an advocate for domestic violence victims. She helped
the Richmond Police Department strengthen their policies and response
to domestic violence incidents. Claudia has bachelor's degrees in Legal
Studies and Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley
and lives in Oakland with her fiancé and new baby boy.
Ratna

Ratna Amin manages the legislative process for the Council President and
is the constituent liaison for the Glenview area and 23rd Avenue. Before
she joined the District 5 office, she served the entire City Council as
a legislative analyst. Prior to working in local government, Ratna worked
as an environmental and transportation planner. Ratna was also a 2004-05
Northern California Coro Fellow in Public Affairs and served as a middle
school math teacher for two years in Phoenix, Arizona as a member of Teach
for America. Ratna has Master's degrees in Transportation Engineering
and City and Regional Planning from the University of California, Berkeley
and a Bachelor's in Computer Science and Engineering from the University
of Pennsylvania. She lives in Oakland with her husband.
Lisa

Lisa joined the District 5 office in July of 2004. She is Mr. De La Fuente’s
Executive Assistant; doing scheduling, office administration, and representing
Ignacio on the Community Action Partnership (CAP) Board. A native Oaklander,
Lisa graduated from Oakland High School in 1980. After getting a bachelor's
degree in Art History from the University of California, Berkeley, Lisa
worked for Old Oakland, a two-block development of restored Victorians
at Ninth & Broadway, for 16 years as an assistant in the Architecture,
then Leasing and finally Property Management departments. Lisa lives in
the Laurel District with her two teenage sons.
Lupe

Lupe is the Legislative Analyst to the Rules Committee, chaired by Council
President De La Fuente. She is responsible for assisting the Council President
with the scheduling of City Council agenda items and monitoring the City’s
state and federal lobbying activities. Lupe’s career with the City
of Oakland began in 1984 in the Economic Development and Employment office.
In 1992, she helped Councilmember De La Fuente launch his District Five
City Council office. Lupe worked for Mayor Jerry Brown in 1999. Since
2001 Lupe has been the City Council Legislative Analyst where she helped
develop many policy initiatives including Equal Access and the Equal Benefits
ordinance. Lupe is a Fruitvale District native.
